Introducing… AFRICAN JOURNAL CLUB!

SLOW DOWN & WRITE IT OUT

44 Stanley and Do the Heart Work bring you a monthly event, starting 7 June 2026, we gather across beautiful spaces at 44 Stanley to write, reflect, create, and connect with ourselves and others.

This is a club for journal writers, note scribblers, deep feelers, sketch makers, poets, over-thinkers, list writers, dreamers and anyone who believes that pen and paper can change the world.

Pens, paper, coffee, community. Phones away. Viva the analogue.

What to expect: Two hours of writing, morning pages, letters, poems, doodling, painting or sketching in some of Jozi's most cozy café spaces.

What's included: R120 per person, includes a cup of coffee. Space is limited.

The first edition's venues include Bean There, Saint Germain, Kohi and Afters.

If you’re new here, welcome!
This space is about journaling, reflection, faith, creativity, and living from love’s voice.

Tell me, did you journal in 2025, or are you starting in 2026?

When winter gets inside your head

What does this winter season want from me? What will I give it? How will this island child thrive amidst cold floors, icy exhales, frosty mornings, and bare trees? Everything stripped away. What will be left?

Why I Journal

I sat down a while ago and made a list of reasons why I journal. And why I keep on journaling in every season of life. It’s a delight to teach others how to do the same.
